Frequently asked questions
How much do I need to invest for Cyprus permanent residence?
At least €300,000 in one category: a new house or apartment bought from a developer (the €300,000 is counted before VAT), other real estate such as offices, shops or hotels, the share capital of a Cypriot company with at least five employees, or units of a Cypriot investment fund.
Do I need income on top of the investment?
Yes. The main applicant must show a secure annual income of at least €50,000, plus €15,000 for a spouse and €10,000 for each dependent minor child. For a new home the income has to come from abroad.
Do I have to live in Cyprus?
No minimum stay is set, but the permit ends if you are away from Cyprus for two years. BRIDGES advises planning at least one visit every two years.
Does Cyprus permanent residence give visa-free travel in Schengen?
No. Cyprus is in the European Union but not in the Schengen area, so the Cypriot card does not replace a Schengen visa.
Does it lead to Cypriot citizenship?
Not automatically. Naturalisation needs at least seven years of legal residence in the last ten, continuous residence in the final twelve months, Greek at B1 level and a test on Cyprus today. The citizenship by investment programme has been closed since 2020.
